We have a fantastic selection of courses coming up for aspiring growers, suitable for those with a variety of growing experience already under their belts, whether you consider yourself a beginner or something of an expert. Please make sure to have a read of all the details below to see which of these courses would best suit you (or perhaps someone that you know!)...
First up, we have our in-person Commercial Organic Growers Course starting on Saturday 10th September. This opportunity equips you with the essential skills for setting up an organic food growing business, taking place over four full-day sessions across three weekends in September and October. Kate Collyns and Adam Rayne, two massively experienced and successful market growers, will be delivering the sessions, so you will be in great hands! For more information, including the price of the course and the relevant application form, please visit this page of our website. Kindling supporters and Kindling Farm members are eligible for a 10% discount for this course.
Next is our annual ‘Do you want to be an organic farmer?’ event, which this year will be taking place on Wednesday 21st September. If you already have a bit of experience growing produce organically and think you may want to delve into the world of commercial growing, then this is the session for you. You can find more details of the event and the link to register on this page. We strongly recommend this honest and informal introduction for anyone looking at applying to join our upcoming FarmStart cohort. Speaking of which…
FarmStart applications will be opening soon! Our next FarmStart will be running from February to October next year, based at Woodbank Community Hub in Stockport, offering two work-based training days per week. FarmStart offers the perfect opportunity to build up your skills and experiment with organic commercial-scale growing on a larger scale. The deadline for applications is Sunday 27th November, and the application form will be added to our website soon. In the meantime, why not sign up to the FarmStart mailing list? You can find more information right here.
