The 10th October saw the final of the first ever Chef's Challenge, which took place at Glasgow City College and was judged by Scotland's National Chef Gary MacLean, Food Journalist Cate Devine, and Jan MacDonald – Chair of Glasgow Allotments Forum.
On a beautiful, sunny, Autumnal Saturday morning, over 200 local residents, local councillors, senior council officers and funders came together to celebrate the launch of Stockport's Community Food Hub.
Funding from Reaching Communities, Postcode Local Trust (supported by players and Awards for All) totalling just under £1/2 million, will support the development of this sustainable food and community hub for the next five years.
"Pathways to Farming is a new project of Mid-Wales based organisation Mach Maethlon, funded by LEADER Arwain. The project aims to support new horticultural producers by offering training, access to land and routes to new markets. The project launched in July 2018, so we wanted to visit some similar projects to learn from others and make connections.
The march will end at the Bargehouse where the international ‘We Feed the World’ exhibition is running. The exhibition is a global photography initiative of over 300 images capturing the triumphs and tribulations of 50 farming communities across six continents, including stories of UK based farmers, seed growers and members of the Landworkers' Alliance.

The Ecological Land Cooperative (ELC) has been granted temporary planning permission by Wealdon District Council to create three affordable smallholdings for new entrant farmers in Arlington, East Sussex and have announced the application process.
