Countdown to Community Shares Campaign

It’s less than a month until we launch our Community Shares Campaign! Where did that time go…

We’re super busy at Kindling HQ getting ready for the launch of the campaign, but we’ve found some time outside of the mass of spreadsheets, emails and post-it notes to talk to you, our kind supporters - without you, there will be no Kindling Farm! So let us begin…

Between the 3rd April and the 3rd July we will be running our Community Shares Campaign which aims to attract community investors to help us raise between £390,000 and £650,000 to buy some land on the outskirts of Manchester that will be developed into an agroecological, organic farm, providing fresh, local fruit and vegetables to the citizens of Greater Manchester and beyond.

And why are we doing this? Because our food system is broken, and we need to fix it. We have spent over a decade as the Kindling Trust educating people on the importance of a healthy food system, growing the markets for organic produce, supporting local farmers to have a viable livelihood in farming, and strengthening our communities by offering support through growing their own food and learning how to cook and eat together, as a community. Kindling Farm has been our dream for all this time, and now this dream is becoming a reality - and you can be part of it!

On the 3rd April we will be releasing our Business Plan for the Farm, along with our Community Shares Offer Document where you can learn all you need to know about how to invest in the Farm. Alongside this, there will be an E-Bulletin specifically dedicated to this campaign, which will point you in the right direction if you get stuck. If this is the first you’ve heard of Kindling Farm, head to our page on the website where you can read our Vision of the Farm: www.kindling.org.uk/FarmVision

We will be having regular Community Shares Surgeries, where you can drop in anytime within the hour to find out how you can invest in the campaign, and have your questions answered by us. The dates are as follows:

  • Wednesday 7th April 12-1pm
  • Saturday 17th April 11am-12pm
  • Monday 3rd May 11am-12pm
  • Thursday 27th May 3-4pm
  • Saturday 26th June 11am-12pm

And what’s even more exciting is that we will be delivering to you a Live Glossary: ½ hour talks by members of the Kindling Team who will be explaining all the technical terms we use when we talk about Kindling Farm, with chances for you to ask questions at the end. The dates are as follows:

  • Thursday 8th April 6:30-7pm: Live Glossary Special: What is agroforestry? Plus, meet the team
  • Tuesday 27th April 6:30-7pm
  • Wednesday 12th May 6:30-7:30pm
  • Saturday 15th May 11-11:30am
  • Thursday 10th June 6:30-7pm

We’ve got lots of articles coming out in various magazines and publications in the next few months too, which explore in more depth some of the reasons behind creating Kindling Farm, as well as top tips on things like grafting and budding plants - check our social media for updates on these, and make sure to grab your issues while they’re still hot.

That’s it for now, other than to say a massive thank you to all of you who have continued to support us throughout the years, and to all of you who will become part of the Kindling Farm. We’re excited - we hope you are too!
