Meet the new cohort for this year’s FarmStart programme! We welcome Aoife and B to the team over at Woodbank. We’re extremely pleased they chose to learn with us and are really excited to see what plans they make for the gardens in the next couple of years. Here they explain to us a little more about the journey they came on to join us.
February is already upon us, and that means the beginning of our pioneering Heritage Fruit Tree Agroforestry Project! With new team members joining us, lots of activities and events already planned and in the diary, and lots of deliveries to Woodbank, we’re off to a flying start.
We are very happy to announce our Spring Commercial Organic Growing course for 2021. Our 4-day Commercial Organic Horticulture Course offers people an amazing training opportunity to learn how to set up an organic food growing business from the growers themselves.
We are looking for three people to join us as we embark on our most ambitious project yet. Over the next 15 months we will be establishing a pioneering heritage fruit tree nursery - the start of Kindling’s 100 acre+ agroforestry system - and much more! To do this we will be engaging and skilling up 3,000 people to graft, bud and plant 12,000 heritage fruit trees for the region.
Greater Manchester is to gain twelve thousand new fruit and nut trees thanks to a DEFRA grant we have been awarded to help to kick-start environmental renewal in our region whilst creating and retaining jobs in the wake of the pandemic.
Veg Box People and Manchester Veg People are recruiting for an energetic role in fresh produce logistics!
These two co-operative organisations work closely together to deliver a model of a more sustainable and fairer food system for Greater Manchester.
The Kindling Trust are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual, with experience of project development and management, to help us develop Woodbank Community Food Hub into a thriving and more financially independent project over the next two and a half years.
Bridge 5 Mill and Kindling Trust are creating two new posts to work across our two organisations: a full-time Office Manager and a part-time Communications Officer.
We are very proud of our new website, it has been a real labour of love over the last twelve months. We started with a blank piece of paper and began by asking how our very practical work could be enhanced and supported by a new website.
The result is a gorgeous looking website, with some very useful functions.
