Seeking Seasonal Grower for Kindling Farm (in Merseyside)

Stu on brush-weeder

We are looking for a part-time seasonal grower to join our small Kindling Farm team, at this exciting time in our first growing season at the farm.

The role will start as soon as possible, during the busiest part of the season and will be heavily weighted towards harvesting, crop management (weeding, irrigation etc.) and some packing and driving work.

Kindling Farm was set up to create a fairer and more sustainable food and farming system for all. Last year we purchased a 31 hectare (78 acre) farm in Knowsley, to establish an organic fruit and veg based agroforestry system and show that climate and wildlife focused farming is an economically viable farming option.

Following 18 months preparation (sowing a fertility-building ley, implementing biodiversity measures; starting our agroforestry system; securing planning permission for basic infrastructure; crop planning etc.), we are now excited to be in our first season of production.

We are starting production gradually (while we build up our markets, team and infrastructure). This first growing season will involve cultivation, production and - crucially at this time in the season - harvesting, of field-scale veg (squash, brassicas, celery, radish, beetroot & beans etc.) and 720m2 of polytunnel crops (tomatoes, spring onions, radish).

We are looking for someone with practical experience of commercial veg production to work with the Kindling Farm team at this busy and exciting time.
