Did you know that Manchester has a climate change action plan? It’s called “Manchester: A Certain Future” and it outlines how our city will change over the coming years and how we can help.
On the evening of Thursday 23rd September, at the Nexus Café, over eighty people came together to the 'Manchester -What's our Future?' event where voluntary and campaign groups (as well as council staff) were on hand to answer questions about the City's strategy.
Kindling attended the event with a display and leaflets to introduce our work; promote other food projects within the city and explain our role within the Manchester Sustainable Food Steering Group.
The event was the first in a series to promote “Manchester: A Certain Future” and an upcoming stakeholder conference that will focus on the city's climate change action plan.
The Sustainable Neighbourhoods Action Group (SNAG), along with several other groups including Action for Sustainable Living, Manchester Friends of the Earth, Call to Real Action, and the Kindling Trust, have planned a series of events in the lead up to the Council's November stakeholder conference. Each event has been organised by a different group and addresses a different theme, aiming to raise awareness of the plan and to enable and encourage people to contribute to the conference.
Manchester: What's Our Future? was the first of a programme of events, conferences and speakers, with Kindling's FeedingManchester #5 focusing on the food element on the 20th October 2010.
