Our sister organisation, Veg Box People, are looking to recruit a passionate and hardworking person to join them for 19 hours a week (with potential to increase as the business grows), and help to grow Manchester’s food revolution in practice.
The role is mainly a veg packing role, working with the team two days a week to pack the bags full of lovely organic veg. They are looking for someone who enjoys physical work at a fast pace, who is capable of safely lifting heavy loads and paying attention to detail. The other regular part of the role is to staff one of the weekly veg bag collection points, so you’ll get to chat to customers too.
Another less regular, but key part of this role is to provide holiday cover for the distribution of the veg bags. So you will need to be a confident driver with experience of driving a long wheelbase van in city areas and (for insurance purposes) to be aged 25 or over.
Veg Box People are at a particularly exciting time in their development. They are working to increase their activity to make organic, local veg and fruit accessible to even more communities around the city.
With huge concerns around climate change and frustrations about the lack of real solutions at a political level, offering practical accessible things that we can do ourselves is more important now than ever. Veg Box People play a vital role in this through local organic produce and by connecting the urban communities to the farmers who grow it.
