We are looking for three people to join us as we embark on our most ambitious project yet. Over the next 15 months we will be establishing a pioneering heritage fruit tree nursery - the start of Kindling’s 100 acre+ agroforestry system - and much more! To do this we will be engaging and skilling up 3,000 people to graft, bud and plant 12,000 heritage fruit trees for the region.
To help us make this project a success we are recruiting for three roles, based at the nursery site in Glazebury near Warrington, and across Greater Manchester:
Full-time Agroforestry & Fruit Nursery Project Manager to oversee the delivery of all aspects of this project and support the team.
Full-time Volunteer Co-ordinator to recruit, train and support our volunteers and participants.
Part-time Community Engagement Worker to focus on the communications and outreach work.
The heritage fruit tree nursery is being established at our new temporary site in Glazebury while we work to secure the permanent 100+ acre site for the Kindling Farm. At the same time we will improve and create new habitats, to increase biodiversity levels at the site and in the surrounding areas. As with all our projects we will work to engage our communities in this work, both learning from their knowledge and raising awareness about the importance of encouraging and protecting biodiversity.
Building on our previous volunteering and community activities and workshops, this project seeks both to engage as a wider range of people in our activities as possible, including those who do not normally get the opportunity to get out in nature. We will also recruit a number of regular volunteers, building their skills to engage others in their communities to take practical action on biodiversity and climate change.
We are really excited about this project and about all it can achieve, both over the next 15 months and in the long term. We hope you feel inspired to join the team that will make this happen and we look forward to hearing from you.
This project and these posts have been made possible with the support of DEFRA and the National Lottery Heritage Fund's Green Recovery Challenge Fund.
