It’s been just over a month since our community shares campaign to help buy Kindling Farm finished - and we’ve been busy ever since! Here’s a quick update to keep you all in the loop about the next steps for the Farm, and how you can get involved.
By the end of the three-month campaign we raised just over £1m, which is absolutely incredible! We are so grateful to everyone who helped us before, during and after the campaign, who told their friends and family, shared our work on social media, invested in the farm, or helped in any other way - we really couldn’t have done it without you.
Since then we’ve been busy writing out all the share certificates and stuffing envelopes to send to all our new members of the farm, which was a nice task away from the screen. We’ve also been looking at some potential farms to buy, which we are incredibly excited to tell you all about once we can - watch this space!
We’re working on updating our website to include a special section all about the farm and the updates, so keep your eyes peeled for that. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the farm, you can email us at farm@kindling.org.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
The Agroforestry Team are still busy bringing our plans for the agroforestry system on the farm into fruition (quite literally!), with over 90% of trees planted out at our temporary nursery in Glazebury having taken successfully. They have plenty of great volunteering opportunities for you all to get involved in, including bud-grafting workshops on the following dates:
- 14th August at Woodbank Community Food Hub
- 19th August at Glazebury
- 31st August at Woodbank Community Food Hub
They’re also on the lookout for some people to do some regular tree care volunteering at Glazebury - if you’re interested in this, email agroforestry@kindling.org.uk. There’s also a Tree Care Workshop on the 21st August at Glazebury, find out more here.
