We are running a course to help groups creating more sustainable community food growing projects.
Following the enthusiastic response to our commercial vegetable growing courses, from the community food growing sector, we asked the lead trainer, Jenny Griggs of Firtree Community Growers, if she would be willing to create a similar course but tailored to community food growing projects.
So Jenny has created a course that will run over 3 days and cover a multitude of topics for how to make your community food growing project more sustainable - from looking at soil maintenance and crop rotations, to how to generate an income as a community garden so that you become independent of funding.
The course will include a day on a local organic market garden, so that we can learn from experienced growers who are working at a commercial scale, about propagation, salad production, soil etc.
The course will run on 3 Saturdays in June and July:
1st June, 8th June and 6th July (10 - 4pm).
For more information or to apply for a place on the course please email: kirstin@kindling.org.uk or give us a bell on 0161 226 2242
This course is free to Big Dig gardens (if you are not a Big Dig garden and are interested, get in touch and we can talk to you about how to sign up as a Big Dig garden in time for the course).
We do ask for a deposit of £50, but you will get this back once you have finished the course.
