Join us for a unique coach trip to one of the best farmer markets around and celebrating Abbey Leys 100th Farmers Market on Sunday 3rd March 2013.
Abbey Leys, an organic family farm near Knutsford in Cheshire, will be celebrating their 100th anniversary next month! Abbey Leys have been organic since 2001 and produce organic eggs and potatoes which are sold at their farm shop, markets and their very own monthly farmers' markets.
This FARMA-certified market features a wide selection of products for purchase where everything has been grown, reared, caught, pickled, brewed, smoked or produced by the stallholders.
In honour of this special occasion, Foodlink Manchester, in conjunction with FeedingManchester and Abbey Leys farm, will be taking a special excursion to the farmer's market on 3 March.
“Living in Manchester, it's no wonder we feel disconnected from our food, being so often surrounded by supermarkets and concrete. Do you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and have the opportunity to learn more about sustainable food production in the region? We will be taking a coach from Manchester in the morning to visit the market, have a tour of the land, meet some of the market producers and have the opportunity to purchase high-quality and delicious locally-produced food” - Nona, Foodlink Manchester co-ordinator
This fantastic day out will include:
- A unique tour of the farm
- The opportunity to meet stallholders and purchase local produce
- Entry into a raffle for a Unicorn Grocery hamper &
- Your very own Foodlink Card membership!
The newly-launched Foodlink Card has been established for supporters and enthusiasts of local food across the North West. By becoming a cardmember, individuals will be supporting local food across the area and will have privileged access to information about special deals, promos and events throughout the five counties.
