Visit the farm after dark to marvel at the wonders of our galaxy with the Liverpool Astronomical Society.
As people switch off their lights for Earth Hour 2026, we’re inviting you to Kindling Farm to connect with the beauty of our natural world. We'll be joined by Liverpool Astronomical Society who will guide us through observing the skies using telescopes and advanced technology (as long as the weather is with us!). The evening will start in our barns with a hot chocolate and a short, informal talk about our solar system before venturing outside. With any luck, we hope to spot Jupiter!
This event is suitable for all ages but please bear in mind that it does take place outdoors, in quite cold weather, over a few hours which might not be suitable for everyone.
You must register to come to this event as facilities and parking are limited; please make sure you register everyone who will be coming along on the night - thank you!
About Earth Hour
Earth Hour is an annual, global movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) which invites everyone to switch off non-essential electric lights for one hour (between 8.30pm-9.30pm) to show solidarity for the planet, raise awareness about the climate crisis and the importance of protecting nature.
About Liverpool Astronomical Society
Liverpool Astronomical Society are one of the world's oldest amateur astronomical societies. Founded in 1881, they have 140 years worth of experience! The society has the use of an observatory, Leighton Observatory, Pex Hill, Cronton which is open to visitors every Wednesday from 7pm. From here, they also facilitate the Young Astronomers Club between October and March.
Please note that this event takes place outdoors. In the event of extreme weather conditions or if the skies are too cloudy for stargazing, we may chose to postpone this event - we will always get in touch as soon as possible to notify you of any changes.
The farm is about to undergo refurbishment so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. We have limited facilities with one indoor toilet which is up a set of stairs. As a working farm, the ground can be uneven in places making activities in the fields difficult for those with limited mobility. If you have any questions about access, please contact: hayley@kindling.org.uk
