Join us for a hands-on morning of wildlife discovery!

Event details:

This is a great opportunity to get up close to the tiny creatures who call Kindling Farm their home, and to hear about our journey to becoming a more wildlife-friendly farm. Led by ecologist, Tony Parker, we'll start the day by safely opening up the overnight traps and identifying the species inside. Stick around as Tony dissects the owl pellets found in our barns, gives us a greater understanding of the mammals living here, and provides an informal talk about mammals found in the local area.

This activity is suitable for children aged 7+ with an interest in wildlife. However, please note that it involves being calm and quiet while Tony opens the overnight traps. If you are staying for Tony's talk at the end of the event, it will involve sitting still for 45 mins, which may not suit everyone.

This event will take place outdoors and in our old barns; is an open, windy site so we suggest wearing a few layers to keep warm and suggest wearing waterproofs. As a working farm, much of the ground here is uneven and can get muddy in rainy eather. Please wear sturdy, waterproof footwear; wellies or walking boots are ideal. We kindly ask that you don’t bring your dogs with you to Kindling Farm.

You must register to come to this event. If you find you can no longer make it, please let us know so we can offer the places to another family.

To help us keep track of car parking spaces, please email us ahead of time to secure a parking space. Email: hayley@kindling.org.uk

The farm is about to undergo refurbishment, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. We have limited toilet facilities, with one indoor toilet that is up a set of stairs. We don't have a cafe here but refreshments will be available. If you have any questions regarding access, please contact: hayley@kindling.org.uk
