All the family are welcome to Kindling Farm at dusk for a chance to spot these incredible aerial acrobats!
Guided by ecologist, Tony Parker, you will learn about the different species living in the UK and how to use a bat detector. We'll then venture out into the fields at Kindling Farm, where we will survey the night sky for bats. Join us from 7.15pm for hot chocolate in the barn!
This activity is suitable for all ages. However, please note that it involves some walking across uneven ground. Also, we'll be outdoors for over an hour, so it might not suit everyone.
This activity will finish no later than 9.30pm, but we may finish earlier depending on the amount of bat activity on that evening. Much like us humans, bats do not like very rainy and windy conditions, and they are unlikely to venture outdoors in bad weather. We will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast, and we will be in touch as soon as possible if we need to cancel or rearrange this event.
Please wear sturdy, waterproof footwear; wellies or walking boots are ideal. The farm is an open, windy site, so we suggest wearing a few layers of clothing to keep warm and wearing waterproofs to stay dry. You might also like to bring a torch; we have a couple available onsite. We kindly ask that you do not bring your dogs to the farm.
You must register to come to this event. If you find you can no longer make it, please let us know so we can offer the places to another family.
To help us keep track of car parking spaces, please email us ahead of time to secure a parking space. Email: hayley@kindling.org.uk
The farm is due to undergo refurbishment, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. We have limited toilet facilities, with one indoor toilet that is up a set of stairs. As a working farm, the ground can be uneven in places, thus making activities in the fields difficult for those with limited mobility and/or pushchairs. If you have any questions about access, please contact: hayley@kindling.org.uk
