Are you keen to compost your food waste but not sure how? Or tried composting before but want to learn more? This session is for you!

Training level: Beginner
Event details:

Composting your food scraps is a great way to reduce the waste your household produces! Join Minna Alanko-Falola of Compost Works in this informative two-hour workshop to get the skills and confidence to give composting a go.

You will get lots of practical advice about the principles of composting, what you can compost, how to set up and manage your own composting system, and how to prevent things from going wrong. Our focus will be on food waste but the principles apply to garden waste too.

There will also be plenty of opportunity for questions throughout. This training is suitable for complete beginners or people who would like to brush up on their skills.

Please note, the farm is about to undergo refurbishment so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible at the moment. We have limited facilities with one indoor toilet which is up a set of stairs. As a working farm, the ground can be uneven in places making activities in the fields difficult for those with limited mobility. If you have any questions about access, please contact: hayley@kindling.org.uk.

You must register to come to this event as facilities and parking are limited.

Transport Links

It's really easy travelling to the farm by public transport...

By train:
The nearest train station is Hough Green - trains from Manchester and Liverpool call here. It is a really straight forward walk along Netherley Road (B5178) to us; it takes around 30 minutes to walk.

By bus:
The number 79C runs between Liverpool and Runcorn. The bus stop is only a 3 minute walk to the farm! Bus fare is £2 each way.

By bicycle:
Use the Liverpool Loop Line to reach the farm. This green corridor is flat and almost entirely traffic-free.

To help reduce carbon emissions, why not consider carpooling?! We will send you an event reminder email ahead of the event date which will include directions to the farm.
