Veg Box People workers co-operative is part of the Kindling family, one of the enterprises we’ve incubated and supported in our quest to transform Manchester's food system. From tiny beginnings just 18 months ago, the co-op now provides organic veg bags to 125 customers each week, and is seeking a highly motivated new co-op member to join its committed, multi-tasking team.
Each week they are selling around £800 of organic veg, that wasn’t being grown last year! They have also increased the number of collection points.
They now have veg bags being collected from Adactus Housing and Bridge 5 Mill in East Manchester, the University of Manchester campus – both from outside the wonderful GreenHouse veggie cafe and the Students’ Union on Oxford Road. Residents in Hulme’s Homes for Change and workers at Work for Change receive bags and soon Hulme Community Garden Centre is to become the ninth collection point.
On a Thursday they have two collection points on Manchester Metropolitan University’s campus. On Thursday evening they are at Stockport Train Station. And if that wasn’t enough on a Friday Boltonians can collect a veg bag from the amazing Kitchen in Bolton town centre.
There's huge potential for this fledgling co-op and an opportunity to grow and grow and so that is one reason why they are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join their committed team, working to revolutionise the food system in Greater Manchester and beyond!
They are now looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join them. So, if you want to join a coop, are passionate about local food, know your veg and want to help grow a business that you part-own, visit: http://kindling.org.uk/VBP_Recruitment
