"My role as communication's co-ordinator involves conveying what Kindling is and stands for, to as any people as possible!" Practically the role is very varied, "I keep on top of social media trying to bring the most exciting content from the organisation to our followers who can enjoy being engaged with us. Another time I can be interviewing an intern for a piece for the website, or creating promotional materials for the next event."
Lyndsey completed their degree in Business Management with Marketing hoping to find opportunities in ‘sustainability’ in its broadest sense, and Kindling immediately stood out as an organisation whose values were aligned with their own. Their passion for a revamped food system was influenced by the film ‘Cowspiracy’ and a non-profit working in upcycling to prevent water pollution with such passion and vigour to reverse climate change effects.
A mixture of amazing people and organisations have influenced Lyndsey to realise that “despite the negative effects humans are having on the planet right now, there are so many people working towards great things to improve our well-being and those of generations to come. I am inspired almost every day not only by the people at Kindling but by the people in the other organisations I meet”.
Lyndsey’s previously put their skills to use supporting the creation of a marketing strategy for an organic seaweed company, whose products are now stocked nationwide. They were also a publicity and fundraising officer for Edinburgh Global Partnerships; a student-run charity working with global development NGO’s.
When not busy with Kindling, Lyndsey enjoy's playing the ukulele and piano, badminton, cycling, dancing (badly), crashing the odd Manchester University Open Seminar, experimenting with vegan cooking, chatting to their sister, watching Ted Talks and enjoying a guilty pleasure - James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. Lyndsey’s favourite food is a tasty spicy bean burrito with fresh guacamole, salsa and paprika seasoned rice. Yum!
