Interested in organic food production but not sure if it’s for you?
Being an organic grower is an incredibly fulfilling job, nourishing people and the planet. But it is incredibly challenging, it's not just the weather we have to contend with.
Join us for a few hours for an informative and honest introduction to the joys and challenges of this rewarding and growing sector. Find out about our Organic Market Garden Training Programme - not only a supported route into commercial growing unique to Greater Manchester but part of a growing nationwide FarmStart network of agroecological training.
Come and join us to learn more on Saturday 16th September, 11.00am - 12.30pm at Woodbank Community Food Hub, Woodbank Park, Stockport.
Kindling’s Helen Dodd will be introducing our 2024 programme and what we have planned for our next season of growing and training at our Woodbank Market Garden. She will be joined by two of our present trainees who will talk about their personal experiences of the training and commercial organic production with all its challenges and benefits.
Michelle, a past trainee reflected on her first few months:
"These past couple of months at FarmStart have been a mixture of emotions. It’s been both challenging and thoroughly enjoyable. All the hard work we did at the beginning of the year is finally coming to fruition and we are seeing lots of lush and healthy growth, plus these past few weeks have seen us doing our first bit of harvesting. All the beds have been prepared and almost all are filled; those which aren’t soon will be. It’s been amazing to see damp wet beds now filled with healthy plants which are thriving and beginning to produce lots of lovely vegetables”.
If you are interested in joining our Organic Market Garden training programme in 2024 then please come along to this session. Booking is essential - To book on please email Helen at farmstart@kindling.org.uk
