This is a beautiful time of the year to spend a day out in the fields at Woodbank. The crops are looking lush and green, but that means the weeds are too! So we need all hands on deck to help our FarmStart trainees stay on top of planting, weeding and a whole range of tasks that keeps the fresh produce flowing from the field to the plates.
There will be a range of tasks to get involved with this Saturday, to help us stay on top of the flourish of growth in both crops and weeds brought on by the recent sunshine. Come and join us in the fields to support our FarmStart trainees and reap the personal benefits of getting your hands dirty and spending a day outside at our little haven at Woodbank.
The afternoon presentation will be on wildlife on the site and the benefits and challenges of improving biodiversity on a growing site.
Woodbank Community Food Hub
Woodbank Memorial Park
Enter the park from the South via Park Lane. Proceed through the barrier into the park and the site is the first gate on the right.
Just south of Stockport Town Centre, this location has great public transport links with the number 314 bus regularly leaving Stockport Bus Station for the nearby Turncroft Lane.
Although a steep cycle from Stockport through Vernon and Woodbank Parks, there are many quiet routes to us and secure bike locking on site.
There is a large free car park just 100 m from the site at the end of Edwin Street.
